About Us Established in 2004, The Mellon Patch Inn is the lifelong dream of wedding planner and caterer Cathy Townsend. Starting with a vision of being an Inn that would host intimate getaways, romantic weddings, showers and tea room gatherings, the Inn has blossomed into a premier Bed & Breakfast on beautiful Hutchinson Island known for its pristine beaches, backcountry adventures and historical districts all within footsteps of the Inn. Townsend, originally from Daytona Beach Florida has been honing her craft since 1979. As a full service planner Cathy has produced thousands of events for her clients ranging from a few hundred guests to over five thousand. The Mellon Patch Inn has hosted over 300 onsite and beach weddings to date, as well as large scale “off site” events.
Today, the Inn offers customized services for their clients and maintains a staff and networking pool of dedicated cake designers, bakers, chefs, photographers, florists, as well as Bands/DJ's to round out the entertainment. Each event is specific and personalized to the client...with no detail to small. From Luau Polynesian Shows, Family BBQ’s, to State Capitol events for the League of Women Voters, Cathy Townsend and the Mellon Patch Inn have established themselves as the area’s premier wedding and event planners. Additionally, as states officiate, Townsend has married many couples, and per request has even written personalized vows for the bride and groom.
